How to choose the right automation project
The best first automation is not always the most impressive one. It is the process where value can be proved quickly.
A good automation candidate is frequent, rule-based and currently dependent on repetitive manual action. It also has a clear outcome such as reduced turnaround time, fewer errors or better visibility.
Begin by mapping the process as it really happens—not as the policy document says it happens. Count the handoffs, identify exceptions and ask where people are copying the same information. Then choose a focused outcome and agree how it will be measured.
Avoid automating a confusing process without simplifying it first. Technology will make a poor process move faster, but it will not make it better.
