What a useful management dashboard should answer
A dashboard should help someone decide or act—not simply display every number available.
The strongest dashboards begin with decisions. What must a manager notice early? Which exception needs attention? What action should follow?
Useful dashboards show a small set of trusted measures, the change over time and the details behind an exception. They keep definitions consistent across teams and make freshness visible.
If a dashboard requires a separate spreadsheet to explain it, the underlying data model or measure definition still needs work.
